Building Information Modeling - BIM

How much BIM are you looking to achieve? Here at VHGA we are making BIM happen in every way available to us. We are working with our Consultants to develop a BIM strategy. We are attending conferences and discussing the concept with local and national contractors.
The image above represents a Revit project that the office has recently completed through the construction documentation phase and is now out to bid. We built the architectural BIM and modeled the structure. In our next project we hope to include our Engineering Consultants in the BIM process.

will you all be sharing your BIM model with the GC that wins the project?

Thanks for the comment. Whether or not to share the model is an issue we face with every project. With our high school project that is currently under construction, we shared the model we created in Architectural Desktop with the GC; that project has a CM at risk contractual arrangement, so we had more of an incentive to share. With a typical design-bid-build scenario, I am unsure of the answer.

That makes sense, but ADT isn't BIM. It's a 3D view of AutoCAD and not parametric. You're basically drafting in 3D if you're using ADT...

Actually, ADT is a 7/8 BIM product. I teach both ADT and Revit at the local community college. If you use the Project structure of ADT, you can build the building as a BIM. ADT is much more complicated as a BIM tool, but it does work. We have done it here at VHGA for many projects.
